Mobile woes

So I rang my phone provider today to unlock my handset so I can try put another SIM card in it when I am overseas (that way I only have to carry 1 phone).

Give them the IMEI number; and the guy is like “We don’t have that on record so I can’t give you an unlock code.” Back when I got the phone I had to swap it twice due to troubles with the handset. Of course, they only had record of the first two handsets I had.

The guy was like, if you have the documentation from when you swapped over the phone then you can take it into a store and get them to update the system. Then you can call us and we can give you the unlock code.

GRAH. This is what I hate. You go into the store, they tell you to ring the customer line. But then the customer line can’t help you with certain things. So f’ing annoying.

I guess it is partly my fault doing this the day before, but obviously their staff are dodgy if they didn’t even enter in my new IMEI number at the time I swapped the phone.

So looks like I will have to have 2 handsets on my trip. Oh well. Not going to use the ripoff international roaming, like the guy suggested. Hmm, maybe that is their ploy “sorry can’t unlock your phone but you can use our international roaming at exorbitant prices instead”.
